ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to assess whether there is linear dependence between groups of morphoagronomic and bromatological traits in hybrid silage corn. Nineteen topcross hybrids and five checks were assessed in two different environments in Campos dos Goytacazes and Itaocara counties, Rio de Janeiro State, during the growing seasons 2013/2014. The study followed a randomized blocks design with four replicates. The phenotypic and canonical correlations between the groups of seven morphoagronomic and five bromatological traits were assessed. There is linear dependence between the group pairs of morphoagronomic, and bromatological variables. The morphoagronomic trait green mass yield can be adopted in indirect selection processes to indicate the...

Correlations between agronomic traits and path analysis for silage production in maize hybrids Bragantia
Crevelari,Jocarla Ambrosim; Durães,Nayara Norrene Lacerda; Bendia,Laila Cecília Ramos; Vettorazzi,Julio Cesar Fiorio; Entringer,Geovana Cremonini; Ferreira Júnior,José Arantes; Pereira,Messias Gonzaga.
ABSTRACT The aim of the current study is to estimate the correlation coefficients and the consequence of genotypic correlations on direct and indirect effects through path analysis between agronomic traits of maize hybrids used for silage production. Eight (8) topcross hybrids and seven (7) checks were analyzed in completely randomized blocks, with six replications, in two environments: Campos do Goytacazes and Itaocara counties – Rio de Janeiro State, in the crop year 2015/2016. The following agronomic traits were assessed: plant height, first ear height, culm diameter, number of ears, ear yield with straw at silage maturity, ear yield without straw at silage maturity, grain yield at silage maturity, grains ratio in the fresh matter and fresh matter...

Degradability and kinetics of fibrous particles in cattle fed diets based on corn silage and concentrates with or without addition of lipids R. Bras. Zootec.
Processi,Elizabeth Fonsêca; Fontes,Carlos Augusto de Alencar; Vieira,Ricardo Augusto Mendonça; Bendia,Laila Cecília Ramos; Rocha,Tiago Cunha; Fernandes,Alberto Magno; Cunha,Jéssica Morais.
ABSTRACT Eight rumen-cannulated steers were assigned to two 4 × 4 balanced Latin squares to evaluate degradability and kinetics of fiber particles from diets based on corn silage and supplements with or without addition of lipids. Dietary treatments were: only corn silage (T1), corn silage plus concentrate with no added lipids (T2), corn silage plus concentrate with added soybean oil (T3), and corn silage plus concentrate containing ground soybean seeds (T4). Kinetics of gastrointestinal transit of fibrous particles was evaluated based on chromium-mordanted fiber. Events of rumen degradation dynamics of fibrous carbohydrates were quantified using the in situ incubation procedure. The mixed models methodology from SAS was used to fit models and the Tukey...

Simulation of diets for dairy goats and growing doelings using nonlinear optimization procedures R. Bras. Zootec.
Glória,Leonardo Siqueira; Abreu,Matheus Lima Corrêa; Rocha,Norberto Silva; Oliveira,Tadeu Silva de; Gomes,Raphael dos Santos; Rohem Júnior,Nardele Moreno; Bendia,Laila Cecília Ramos; Fernandes,Alberto Magno.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to simulate total dry matter intake and cost of diets optimized by nonlinear programming to meet the nutritional requirements of dairy does and growing doelings. The mathematical model was programmed in a Microsoft Excel(r) spreadsheet. Increasing values of body mass and average daily weight gain for growing doelings and increasing body mass values and milk yield for dairy does were used as inputs for optimizations. Three objective functions were considered: minimization of the dietary cost, dry matter intake maximization, and maximization of the efficiency of use of the ingested crude protein. To solve the proposed problems we used the Excel(r) Solver(r) algorithm. The Excel(r) Solver(r) was able to balance diets...
